Whether you are an ardent believer in Astrology or not there’s no denying that the twelve signs of the zodiac – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces – provide us with an interesting starting point for understanding ourselves and the personality types that we are likely to be most compatible with. According to many, our Zodiac signs provide us with a glimpse of our underlying personality traits and character. While this is a very broad brush approach it is amazing just how much our zodiac signs can reveal about us, and importantly which signs we are likely to be most compatible with. Knowing in advance what personality traits will work well with ours, and therefore which are likely compatible zodiac signs, gives us a shortcut to finding our perfect match.
Pisces, the Fish, is the 12th astrological sign of the Zodiac, and quite naturally, is a water sign. A feminine, introverted sign, Pisces is ruled by Jupiter and is predisposed to being compatible with Cancer and Scorpio. Pisces’ dates are from February 19th through March 20th. Pisces are characterised by sensitivity and a willingness to help others.
Aquarius, the 11th astrological sign of the Zodiac, is symbolised by the Water Bearer. Masculine and extroverted, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and is an air sign. January 21st through February 19th are Aquarius’ dates, and they are astrologically compatible with Gemini and Libra. Aquarius likes and seeks attention and possess intelligence and humor.
The Zodiac’s tenth astrological sign, Capricorn, the Goat, is an earth sign, ruled by Saturn. An introvert, Capricorn’s dates begin December 22nd and runs to January 20th. Ambitious, but also cautious and practical, Capricorn is considered to be compatible with Taurus and Virgo, other earth signs.
Sagittarius, the ninth astrological sign of the Zodiac, is masculine, extroverted, and a fire sign. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and its’ dates are November 23rd through December 21st. Compatible with other fire signs such as Aries and Leo, Sagittarius is noted for their humor and magnetism. A sometimes sharp tongue is another quality that’s very much in evidence.
The Zodiac’s eighth astrological sign, Scorpio, symbolised by the Scorpion, is called a feminine, introverted sign. Scorpio is a water sign, and is co-ruled by Mars and Pluto. October 23rd through November 22nd are Scorpio’s dates, and are considered to be compatible with Cancer and Pisces. Possessed of magnetic personalities and strongly opinionated, Scorpio is also passionate and possessive.
Libra, the seventh astrological sign of the Zodiac, is ruled by Venus and is masculine, extroverted, and an air sign. Libra’s symbol, the Scales, signifies the Libra characteristic of diplomacy. September 23rd to October 22nd are the Libra dates, and are compatible with other air signs, Gemini and Aquarius.
Virgo, the Maiden, is the sixth astrological sign of the Zodiac. August 23rd to September 22nd are the Virgo dates, and it is ruled by the planet Mercury. An earth sign, Virgo is usually compatible with other earth signs such as Taurus and Capricorn. Exceptionally intelligent, Virgo sometimes becomes too analytical, and are considered to be purists.
The fifth astrological sign, Leo (the Lion), is a fire sign, masculine and extroverted, and is ruled by the Sun. July 22nd through August 22nd are Leo’s dates, and compatibility with other fire signs (Aries, Sagittarius) are generally recommended. The Leo is a natural leader, and although generally open-minded, can be short-tempered and bossy.
The fourth astrological sign of the Zodiac, Cancer, is generally introverted and is a feminine sign, as well as being a water sign. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer’s dates run between June 22nd to July 21st. They are generally compatible with Scorpio and Pisces, other water signs, and are symbolised by the Crab. Possessing a natural artistic flair, Cancer is domestic by nature and can be occasionally moody and sentimental.
The Zodiac’s third astrological sign, Gemini, is associated with Mercury, and it’s symbol is the Twins. An air sign, Gemini is classified as masculine and extroverted. May 22nd through June 21st are dates for Gemini, and one of their primary characteristics is versatility. Excellent communicators with strong opinions and a tendency to over-worry.
The Zodiac’s second astrological sign, Taurus, the Bull, is classified as an earth sign as well as generally being introverted. Taurus is ruled by Venus, and is generally considered to be compatible with other earth signs such as Virgo and Capricorn. Born between April 21st and May 21st, Taurus tends to be rather stodgy and unimaginative as well as a seeker of stability and permanence. They also can be (like it’s namesake) incredibly stubborn.
As the Zodiac’s first astrological sign, Aries is considered to be the pioneer of theZodiac, and therefore Arians like to be first in whatever they are doing. Symbolised by the Ram, Aries is a positive sign, often classified as being neurotic and task-oriented. Aries is also a fire sign, ruled by the planet Mars.
